Writer's Block: Revolutionary Thought

It's the anniversary of the Russian Revolution, marking the Marxist overthrow of the Russian government. Karl Marx once wrote that "religion is the opium of the people." What is the new opium of the people?

I swear I'm coming back if there's anyone still out there reading this

Happy Holidays everyone! I hope the season finds you all well, with your loved ones.

Man, I remember a time when I worked, but still had some spare time to enjoy myself by randomly surfing around the internet, lazily reading through my flist on LJ, spending hours watching videos/listening to random mp3s, looking at pictures....now it seems like I don't have time for any of that anymore. My time is not even my own any more. When I do get home and I don't have stuff to do, I don't even want to look at my computer.

Whatever happened to my blissful online life?

Last night, Warren and I were saying how nice it would where you DON'T have to work nights and weekends. Sweet life, that. Particularly nights. I don't mind so much working on weekends, but I absolutely HATE working at night. HATE IT. Will I ever have my nights back?

Being a grad student really sucks some times.

I'm going home for the holidays on Tuesday, and that will be enjoyable, but I'll spend the majority of my time there studying for my comprehensive exam. Wish me luck on that.

Anyhoo, I could continue to go on and on about how I have no life, but it's time for me to pack up and finally leave the lab. I might work on weeknights, but I REFUSE to work on Friday and Saturday nights, so I'm going home to hang out and watch a movie.

The dead walk the earth

OMG, it's been so so very long since I've posted. What can I say? there's no excuse, really. I'm loosing interest in on-line life in general. I still adore all my friends, but have less and less time for this

I'm going to post about my trip to Europe. Perhaps later this week.

Until then, this is the call out for CHRISTMAS CARDS!!

I do have addresses for a few of you, but if you'd like a Christmas card from Canada, please reply to this with your address. All comments are screened so that only I can see them

WOW! An update! I can't believe this!

What's up with me? Not too much!

I think I forgot to say that in TWO WEEKS TIME I'm going to be in ENGLAND! I'm going to visit my friends there for just a couple of days, then I'm off to Portugal for 3 days for a conference. then my friend Rachelle and I are going to Spain for 3 days, and then back to England for 2 days. In total I'm going to have 12 days off and see three countries in Europe. Pretty cool!

In Portugal I'll be in Faro, which is in the Algarve. It's in the southern-most part of Portugal, right on the Atlantic ocean and just west of the Strait of Gibraltar. While in Spain we are going to go to Seville, the capital of Andalusia.

I'm still debating whether I'm going to bother taking my laptop with me....it's *really* quite heavy and I don't like the idea of lugging it around Europe with me. And really, what use would it be if I couldn't get internet? I dunno.

Ahhhh....so that's about it. I work and go out occasionally and that's about it.

OH, and I nearly forgot! I adopted a kitten! He's a beautiful tabby and he's 6 months old and I named him Stewie. He plays fetch and drinks out of his water dish using his paw. From the moment we brought him home he got along so well with Neo, my roommate's cat. The two boys just love each other now.

Photobucket is being a bitch right now, so I'll post some pics later!

All is well....

well, I FINALLY managed to finish Deathly Hallows so I'm back to LJ and reading and it's time to catch up on HP-related art, fic and icons.

As for my thoughts, of course I thought it was amazing, but right now I'm still too devastated that it's OVER to really talk about it that much. It's really over. God......

I will be avoiding LJ a little for next while, as I'm re-reading HBP and won't start DH for quite a while. I just DON'T have the time to sit down and read right now.

So I hope that all continues to be awesome here and I'm sure I'll want to talk about the book at length afterwards, but I REALLY want to avoid spoilers.

30 is the new 20

Ahhh......yesterday was the birthday. I'm 30 now. At first, I was very depressed about saying goodbye to my 20's but now I'm okay with it. I relised that I really, truly am having MUCH more fun now than I was 10 years ago. It's soooo much cooler to be 30

I attended a couple of parties on the weekend and had fun. Last night I had dinner at the delicious Ethiopian restaurant with a group of friends. it was low-key but that's fine. We're all a little tuckered from the constant party schedule (everyone seems to be having a party/event just about every night right now!) so the evening was neither long nor crazy. One friend gave me a cute little book/recipe card set about cocktails. I guess I'm a lush. *lol* Two of my other friends got me a ticket to see Bob Dylan in Michigan in a couple of weeks, which is pretty freaking cool. Means I'm going to have an awesome summer for concerts (White Stripes, Bob Dylan, The Police), and all of them in July!

but seriously, all the parties really zapped my energy. Last week I was out Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. By Sunday I could barely move!

there's a BBQ for a friend tonight, but I doubt it will be a late one. Again, we're all a little tired.

I feel like I should say more. Like I should have deeper, more meaningful thoughts about the occasion of turning 30. but I don't. I suck

Well, I hope that you all are doing well and having a great time....just in general.
